Go to this webpage:

This is a business in China. I've worked with them many times and they have always been reliable. Although their web page only shows beads, cabochons and stones, they have their own mines and cutting factory and can cut anything for you to your specifications. Agates are not a problem...they could even offer you rubies if you want.

Send an email of what you need to their customer service and ask for Jack Zhou. If you don't know stones well, look through their web pages for gemstone beads, find a stone you like and ask them to send you a quote for what agate in what size you want.

Help with The Bell Jar- Sylvia Plath?

I'm obviously not asking anyone to do my work for me, but just to help. You know how some people can take one word from a passage and write a paragraph on it..thats what i can't do!! Basically my question is:
Look at how the character is described: look at the language that is used. pick out and analyse key words/phrases. and the character is Doreen. The passage is :

I'd never known a girl like Doreen before. Doreen came from a society of girls' college down South and had bright white hair standing out in cotton candy fluff round her head and blue eyes like transparent agate marbles, hard and polished and just out indestructale, and a mouth set in a sort of perpetual sneer. I don't mean a nasty sneer, but an amused. mysterious sneer, as if all the people around her were pretty silly and she could tell some good jokes on them if she wanted to.

Doreen singled me out straight away. She made me feel I was that much sharper than the others, and she really was wonderfully funny.

So basicallyyyy..how do i take a few words form that and anayalse her personality? any help will be really really appreciated and i will be able to learn from the tips you give me. thanks so much in advance

She seems like a fun outgoing person - the whole description leads to that

Daniel asks…

Gemologist, what gemstone could this be?

Call all gemologists or minerologists. I am new to studying gemology and I have a very interesting gem I am trying to identify. It is a cabochon cut and it's body color is grayish. I cannot get a good ri reading on it. I got 1.54 but could not get another reading to confirm it. It looks like it has a dark blue adularescence (could be chatoyancy but hard to tell because it is not distinct) when I shine a light on it. When examining the base it has irridescence. It is semi transparent. Any ideas on what it could be? I was thinking iris agate (it did not look like any fire agate I have seen before but suppose could be) or sheen obsidian

Michael asks…

What gemstones do these sound like?

I bought ten gemstones from ebay. The list it includes is here:

' Includes Rose quartz- Tiger Eye-Howlite (Blue & White) Turquetine- Calcite- Jasper- Agate. '

unfortunately i can't match all of them up with their names, so here's what i'm having trouble with.

Gemstone 1:

It isn't as smooth as the others. is a dark sort of blue with a yuckyish colour through it. Sort of looks like it has blue bubbles in it. I just looked at it in the light and it looks like it has navy flecks through, mixed with the dark blue and yucky colour. Opaque, not translucent. Any suggestions of what it could be by looking at the list?

Gemstone 2:

A dark red in colour, flecked with grey, redish colours, and bright red flecks. A smooth stone, looks really different but interesting. Kind of like this but with the greyish colour too: http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/minerals/pix/jasper1.jpg

Gemstone 3:

Metallic silver. No other description really, just metallic silver all over.

Gemstone 4:

Golden colours mixed together, not in straight lines, but a mixed pattern

Gemstone 5:

Plain lemon, translucent.

Gemstone 6:

Stunning, all colours of green mixed together.
This isnt the gem, but it'll give you an idea: http://www.shopgemstones.com/gemstoneimages/malachite.jpg

Gemstone 7:

Very dark red, with dark red stripes
Like this, but with the stripes: http://www.metaphysicalrealm1.com/info/RedJasper1.jpg

Thanks very much in advance, if you could please maybe give some suggestions or possible even a link to what you think it could be that'd be INCREDIBLY helpful. here's the ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280455506058&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Thanks!

Jasper Agate and Tiger's eye can come in different colours, i.e Blue Agate, Red Jasper, etc etc etc, maybe look them up, and next time buy from real life shop. When choosing gemstones you are meant to choose the one YOU are drawn to.
Number 7 sounds like Jasper, genstone 3 sounds like Hematite, 4 could be tigers eye or jasper, 5 could be some prro quality calcite?
Sorry I couldn't help more.
