Some of our friends wonder why we have included Blue Lace Agate in our product range. It is mined by youth groups seeking self-employment in the Lake Turkana area of Northern Kenya. It doesn't come easy as the roads require a tough 4X4 WD. It takes a minimum of 4 days, weather permitting to get a truck-load. We have had this piece as a sample for about a month. We are exploring applications in African Pendants and, exports. We are processing about 75kg of Blue Lace Agate, as an export sample. A word or two about Agates: gemstone.org No gemstone is more creatively striped by Nature than agate, chalcedony quartz that forms in concentric layers in a wide variety of colours and textures. Each individual agate forms by filling a cavity in host rock. As a result, agate is often found as a round nodule, with concentric bands like the rings of a tree trunk.
