Mary asks…

Atheists, have you ever wondered why people believe in God?

The real question isn't, 'Why do people believe in God?' Rather, 'Why don't you believe in God?'

I'm going to answer your question, but bare with me. Scripture is emphatically clear that from youth the intent of mans heart is corrupt, it is continuously wicked (Genesis 8:21, Psalms 51:5, Jeremiah 17:9). 1 Corinthians 2:14 even goes on to tell us that the natural man is spiritually dead. And Ephesians 2:1-5 even goes just that much further to say that the natural man is under the dominion of the evil one himself! The natural man is totally insensible (Romans 3:10-12), and hostile (Romans 8:6) to the things of God. But I must ask, what would oblige the wicked, sinful, spiritually dead, God hating, and an under-the-dominion-of-Satan bound slave, to submit to the One they hate? Given that, how does any man come to God based on his own natural ability?

Someone will say, ‘Well, I repented!’ Yet repentance is a gift granted by God (Acts 5:31, Acts 11:18, 2 Timothy 2:25). Or they'll say, ‘Well, I have faith!’ Yet, even the very faith that you possess is supplied by the Sovereign King (Romans 12:3, 2 Thessalonians 1:3, Philippians 1:29)!

Christ said in John 6:44, ‘No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.’ Likewise, Christ also declared to His disciples in John 15:16, ‘You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.’ And that is precisely how men come to God… not by making that ‘right choice’ for Jesus, but because God does the drawing. He has mercy on whom He has mercy, and has compassion on whom He has compassion.

God pre-ordains all things (Ephesians 1), and He has made all vessels for a purpose. God has made vessels of mercy, and vessels of wrath. As Romans 9 puts it,

'Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles.’ – Romans 9:21-24

This is also mirrored in 1 Peter 2:7-8, which says,

“This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, ‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone,’and, ‘A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE’; for they stumble BECAUSE they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also APPOINTED.”

If it was not for God, then all men would be condemned. But for His own glory, out of His own kindness, and out of His own love, He chose to have mercy on a people, and it’s even a wonder He’s done that. He has created vessels of wrath so that He could make known the riches of His glory upon the vessels which He prepared for mercy (Romans 9:21-24). I think Jim McClarty is most insightful when he put it this way,

‘God does what He does the way He does it in order to reveal certain aspects of His being to His creation. He is going to make Himself known as the merciful, loving, gracious God among those people whom He saves. And as they witness His judgment against people who are essentially no guiltier than themselves, they will realize the great love which He has poured out on them in accordance with His own reasons for His own glory.’

That is why some men believe, and some men don't. God chooses whom He will have mercy on, and who He will harden (Romans 9:15-20). For even the unbeliever is doing the will of God.

We have been trained to think, ‘You are not My [in reference to Christ] sheep, because you do not believe.’ But the Scripture declares, ‘You do you not believe, because you are not My sheep’ (John 10:26).

Atheist make Christians want to read the bible, just to find out what is so bad about God that they refuse to accept his word and believe in him...therefore leading more to Christianity! Everything on this Earth has a place and reason...NO ONE LIVING KNOWS! But its a answer to every question and if it isn't then its just an opinion.

Thomas asks…

Atheists: How could you possibly explain this?

Christianity is the one true religion. That may sound awfully dogmatic and narrow-minded, but the simple truth is that Christianity is the only true religion. Jesus said that He alone was the way to the Father (John 14:6), that He alone revealed the Father (Matt. 11:27; Luke 10:22). Christians do not go around saying Christianity is the only way because they are arrogant, narrow-minded, stupid, and judgmental. They do so because they believe what Jesus said. They believe in Jesus, who claimed to be God (John 8:58; Exodus 3:14), who forgave sins (Mark 2:5; Luke 5:20; 7:48), and who rose from the dead (Luke 24:24-29; John 2:19f). Jesus said that He was the only way. Jesus is unique. He was either telling the truth, He was crazy, or He was a liar. But since everyone agrees that Jesus was a good man, how then could He be both good and crazy, or good and a liar? He had to be telling the truth. He is the only way.
Christianity is not just a religion; it is a relationship with God. It is a trusting in Jesus and what He did on the cross (1 Cor. 15:1-4), not on what you can do for yourself (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Buddha didn't rise from the dead, nor did Confucius or Zoroaster. Muhammad didn't fulfill detailed prophecy. Alexander the Great didn't raise the dead or heal the sick. And though there is far less reliable information written about them, they are believed in.
The scripture is right when it says in 1 Pet. 2:7-8, "This precious value, then, is for you who believe. But for those who disbelieve, 'The stone which the builders rejected, this became the very corner stone,' and, 'A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense'; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed." (NASB).

The Mathematical Odds of Jesus Fulfilling Prophecy

"The following probabilities are taken from Peter Stoner in Science Speaks (Moody Press, 1963) to show that coincidence is ruled out by the science of probability. Stoner says that by using the modern science of probability in reference to eight prophecies, ‘we find that the chance that any man might have lived down to the present time and fulfilled all eight prophecies is 1 in 1017." That would be 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000. In order to help us comprehend this staggering probability, Stoner illustrates it by supposing that "we take 1017 silver dollars and lay them on the face of Texas. They will cover all of the state two feet deep. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state. Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one? Just the same chance that the prophets would have had of writing these eight prophecies and having them all come true in any one man."
Stoner considers 48 prophecies and says, "we find the chance that any one man fulfilled all 48 prophecies to be 1 in 10157, or 1 in 10,00,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,… 000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,… 000,000,000."

(This information was taken from the book Evidence that Demands a Verdict, by Josh McDowell.)

The estimated number of electrons in the universe is around 1079. It should be quite evident that Jesus did not fulfill the prophecies by accident. He was who He said He was: the only way (John 14:6).

Look , I know you mean well my Friend, I seen this question when it was first asked and waited a while to answer after most have moved on, I have been Doing this since July 06 and found out the hard way, Witnessing to Atheist is useless, No amount of evidence in the Universe will convince them because of their Bias Idiotic Presuppositions, No matter what evidence you bring they will not accept it, In the Carm web site (Which is where this came from) You will see that, Matt Slick speaks of this, we are not obligated to waste our time trying to convince the unwilling. In fact, we are warned not to expend excessive effort on those who are clearly disinterested in any honest discussions (Matthew 7:6).
Asking questions Aimed at Atheist is Useless, I really Believe that Even If God were to Come down Grab them By The Neck and say ": Here I am I am Real Get Over it!
These Atheist are so filled with demonic influence and hate (least some I see in here) They would spit in God's face and say How dare you prove you exist! How dare you! Even as they are being thrown into hell alive.

The Scripture do say that Every Knee will Bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord.

And I believe that if they do not then God will break their legs

Java mutator and accessor with array...?

try to use mutator and accessor to get value from an array, but the print out shows null for a string array and 0 for an int array...
here is the code:

item.calss:
import java.util.Random;
public class Item
{
private String item;
private int value;
public String getItem()
{
return item;
}
public int getValue()

public void setItem()

String[] itemList = {"Golden Goblet", "Gold Nugget", "Gold Coin", "Precious Stone", "Silverware", "Drift Wood", "Stone", "Skeleton", "Old Rags", "Walking Stick"};
Random r = new Random();
int itemNumber = r.nextInt(9);
item = itemList[itemNumber];
}
public void setValue()
{
int[] valueList = {120, 30, 40, 100, 20, -40, -20, -100, -10, -30};
Random r = new Random();
int itemNumber = r.nextInt(9);
value = valueList[itemNumber];
}
}

itemTest.class:
public class ItemTest
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
Item item = new Item();
System.out.println("The item get is " + item.getItem() + ", the points given by the itme is " + item.getValue() + ".");
}
}

admin answers:

You have to set the item and value (mutator) before you get them (accessor), otherwise you get the default values (null for String, 0 for int).

You need to call the set methods before the get methods in your main method. Or create a constructor that initializes the item and value variables by calling the set methods.

Sharon asks…

Can someone proof read my essay? you can make any changes!?

Charles Perrault's "Cinderella" and the Native American Cinderella “Oochigeaskw-the Rough Faced Girl” both feature a young woman living in unfortunate circumstances that are suddenly changed to remarkable fortune. However, Bonnie Cullen states “Perrault's story, above all others [become the dominant version of “Cinderella”]? Considering its origins, there were many contestants for the dominant tale.”(645) But, “Oochigeaskw- the rough faced girl,” is much more active than passive, has greater moral values and focuses on internal beauty rather than external beauty like Perrault's “Cinderella.”

Oochigeaskw is shown to be more active than passive because she takes matters into her own hands, unlike Cinderella, who waits for her fairy godmother to help her. Cinderella needs the help of another person in order to attend the ball rather than getting there by herself. As in the story, Cinderella watched her step-sisters leave for the ball “... she began to cry. Her godmother, seeing her all in tears, asked what was the matter. If only I could... If only I could...” she was weeping so much that she could not go on. Her godmother, who was a fairy, said to her: “If only you could go to the ball, is that it?” “Alas, yes” said Cinderella with sigh. “Well,” said the godmother, “be a good girl and I'll get you there.”(625) Cinderella looked on while her fairy godmother made all of the things she needed for a night out come true, rather than letting her do it herself. The fairy godmother is the one who helps Cinderella get ready for the ball and gains the prince's attention by wearing the beautiful gown and shoes she receives, all she has to do is get there. The prince also “led her out to dance” (626) instead of asking him herself, and that passive behaviour is followed by her sitting at home while the prince searched for her. On the other hand, Oochigeaskw takes matters into her own hand and helps herself. She makes her own clothes to meet the invisible one she “got a pair of her father's moccasins, old ones, and put them into water to soften them so that she could wear them. ... she made a dress, and put marks on it for decoration, in the style of long ago. She made a petticoat and a loose gown, a cap, leggings, and handkerchief. She put on her father's large old moccasins, which were far too big for her, and went forth to try her luck.”(640) She also shows her active side when she decides to meet the invisible one herself without the help of anyone. These show the readers that Oochigeaskw is much more active than Perrault's Cinderella, because she takes control of her life rather than waiting for someone to do it for her.

The Native American Cinderella “Oochigeaskw-the Rough Faced Girl” has greater moral values than Charles Perrault's Cinderella, because she doesn` pretend to be someone else and understands the principle of telling the truth. Cinderella's character is known to be patient, kind, and sweet natured, but many people may disagree, due to the fact that she attends the ball without her families consent. As Elizabeth Panjatta states “Cinderella's triumph at the ball has less to do with her innate goodness and more to do... with a string of subversive acts: she disobeys the stepmother, enlists forbidden helpers, uses magic power, lies, hides, dissembled, disguises herself, and evades pursuit.” (660) When Cinderellas step-mother and step-sisters return from the ball Cinderella opens the door “rubbing her eyes and yawning and stretching as though she had just woken up.”(627) Even though she was at the ball with them the whole time. Cinderella also attends the ball wearing a“dress of gold and silver cloth, all sparkling with precious stones.”(626) This materialistic image gave everyone at the ball, including the prince, the impression that Cinderella was a princess. She lied to the prince by not telling him the truth about her status the second night she met him. Cinderella lied to the prince by not showing him her true self in the beginning. On the other hand, Oochigeaskw tells the truth to her family that she is going to see the invisible one. When Oochigeaskw “set off, her sisters shouted and hooted, hissed and yelled, and tried to make her stay. And the loafers around the village, seeing the strange little creature, called out “Shame!” (640) Oochigeaskw receive the opposite treatment Cinderella received when she arrived at the ball. The fact that Oochigeaskw didn't turn back and run home indicates that she is self-assured, and confident, because she's sure of her own abilities to find the invisible one. Oochigeaskw also doesn't pretend to be someone else, she show her true self to the invisible one and his sister. She knows shes not the most attractive girl, but she still leaves home without the help of a fairy godmother. Oochigeaskw shows her true self rather than being ashamed of who she is, and in the end she perseveres by be

100% scam.

There is no job buying anything.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses and will demand you pay, in cash, and only by Western Union or moneygram.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

6 "Rules to follow" to avoid most fake jobs:
1) Job asks you to use your personal bank/paypal account and/or open a new one.
2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.
3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.
4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.
5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.
6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.

Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed 'red flags' and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers ask you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason.

If you google "fake job", "fraud Western Union scam" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.
