Mandy asks…

What's the name of this stone?

I bought yesterday a little semi-precious stone, but I don't know it's name! The stone looks like the sky at night, very dark, and when you put light on it, it lights up with a lot of blue and white dots. Can someone help me telling me the name of it?

admin answers:

Sounds like Goldstone, which is a manufactured "stone" made of acrylic.

Maria asks…

can you think of a good name for my little puppy girl.?

it needs to be the name of a colour and precious stone, ie Ruby Jade, Amber those are the names of the other pups now i need a name for this one and cant find one

Hi there congratulations a new puppy girl!!! Sapphire actually comes in many different colours maybe you might like that name ( saffy for short ) ? Or what about opal or pearl they have many colours too! Crystal, topaz, morgan ,short for morganite which is a pale pink sparkley stone also known as The PINK EMERALD. " Gem" is another one, alexandra from the very rare stone Alexandrite a, stone which is green coloured by day and ruby colour by night, very rare stone." . Rose" from rose quartz which is the pink stone of love, there are many beautiful stones which don't have very apt names but go to your library and get a book on gemstones. Good luck with the names and of course your lovely little puppy. Please let us know what you decide! Bye.................

Steven asks…

Remember a fantasy card game (70/80s) where the cards looked like tarot & you collected crystals? Ruin stones?

My aunt got my mother hooked on this game in 1983/or 1984 when we visited her in Virginia one summer. I would KILL to know the name of it!

It was a card game that was fantasy based. You chose a role card (like sorceress, rogue, etc.) and played the strengths of the character to gain as many stones/crystals as you could. I cannot remember what the rest of the deck looked like but the artwork was great. The stones/crystals that you played for were small geometric jewel-like clear plastic things that could interlock into one another. I got yelled at many times for making long flimsy sticks out of these gem-like things because they were so precious to the game.

I don't know if the game was American in origin or not. My aunt was an Army wife and may have brought it back with her from Germany (unsure). She insists that the game was called "Ruin Stone" but admits that her memory is failing her. I have googled and ebayed my little heart out looking for a game named "ruin stone" and variants like "stones of ruin", but I just come-up empty-handed each time.

My mother believes that Milton Bradley (or a sub-company of) put the game out originally, but she also is unsure about her mamory.

Any of my beloved Fantasy/RP Gaming Nerds remember this one?
*I have searched "runestone" and "rune stones", but the obvious divination tool pulls up. Adding "card game" does not seem to hit on anything relevant either. Believe me when I say this, because I have gone through hundreds of google returns . . . painfully. lol

admin answers:

I actually don't know about this game at all (I wasn't even alive back then!), but... A suggestion. Try 'Rune Stones' instead. From my experience in fantasy RPGs I don't think I've ever seen ruin stones, only rune stones.
