What is the most politically correct precious stone?
Diamonds have too much bad karma. I have heard the same about emeralds from South America (fact?). But I love jewelry... Where and from who can I find a beautiful real, precious stone that is not taking advantage of people?

Where in the world is the best place to buy precious and semi-precious stones for cheap?
A friend told me about going to Bahrain and buying uncut diamonds, emeralds and rubys for more than half the price i'd spend in America for one. (about $800 less). Then another friend went to visit India and bought four different semi-precious stones (Aquamarine, Citrine and others) for about $400 less than in the Americas. He bought five uncut 3 carat pieces of Aquamarine for $750 and 2 pieces of 5 carat citrine for $630. I'm interested in buying pieces and then making them into my own jewlery but where is the best place to find these things cheap??? Anyone know? Price doesn't matter really...

You should hook up with established gem dealers in Thailand, the UAE, and Israel. I can't give you a name because it's really a matter of trust, but I do know that in these places, you are most likely to find dealers who buy and sell across the whole quality spectrum, and not just jewelry shop level gems.
I had the same issues when I got into crystal therapy and needed lower grade gems that were real but not the highest end because inclusions need to be visible for some work. There are certain sellers on eBay from Thailand, who are very good with a good reputation. I would say buy one or two small things, check them out, and if you like them order more.
Basically, get out there and explore the business. Sometimes you can get started by just visiting your local new age stones shop.

You don't have to go anywhere but to your TV. Look for the Gem Shopping Network. I have used them for years and the quality is great and the customer service is top notch.

Some sites clearly take advantage..I buy a long piece of selenite for only $15 !!! sold at $120 in some sites !!! Not all mind you but come on..
I buy all my not so known stones, minerals etc from the same shop which does not charge me like that !
Some are more expensive than others of course ! This is to be expected because they are rarer. Like Moldavite.
I wanted to kind of make necklaces for me anyway..

I think believing in your instinct is paramount..but I get sometimes confused..

Well, for starters, it helps to know what the stones mean. For example, if you think a stone for peace or one for guidance will be important in your talisman necklace, use those!

Collect collect collect. Once you have them all put them into a pile and go to a very quiet, peaceful place where you can relax.
Think about whether you're going to string these stones on to thread, or set them in metal. Whatever you can do, do it! My advice, setting them in metal can look better. Here's an example

Then it's up to putting the certain stones in the right order. There's no right or wrong but some ways look and work better than others.
I'd suggest you close your eyes and randomly pick each, a stone at a time. Let your hands move and be drawn to the specific stone.
Don't over think it, try to switch your mind off.
As you get each stone, put it on the necklace immediately.
If you are well connected with the talisman necklace, it will work well and look great!
