My favorite is a small piece of limestone containing several fossil Turritella shells, perfectly formed and in all orientations. I gave it to my niece.

I see in the international gem show that there are various varieties of semi precious stones. They are also expensive.
My question is:
Is it really worth to buy semi precious stones?
Is buying semi precious stones an investment like buying gold or diamonds?
Do the worth of the semi precious stones also increase like the worth of precious stones (like diamonds)?
Suppose if I buy the semi precious 1 Ruby stone stand for $70, then after couple of years, if I want to sell the strand, who will buy it and will I get $70 back on return or will the price of the Ruby strand increases ?
Please let me know.
