Lisa asks…

When, where and why, in history, did Gold, Silver and precious minerals, stones become valuable?

also, is it true that India and present day Pakistan has more, most of the gold and precious minerals, stones in the world?

why this is and what is it about Gold and Silver that makes it so expensive and sought after?

why india was so interesting to Europeans in history too and how compared to China ?

anything can explain appreciated.

admin answers:

I am sure that prehistoric people appreciated rare and beautiful stones and crystals. It is human nature.

It is not true that Pakistan has even a significant percentage of most precious metals or minerals compared to the US, Russia, Australia, Canada, Brazil, South Africa or even China.

India was the source of spices that Europeans valued. It was mainly because they had no means to preserve meat and that would allow them to preserve it longer. It also obviously improves the flavor. The spice trade is the main reason that Europe became obsessed with reaching the Indies or India and Indonesia mostly. I think China was more in the colonizing period and it was thought of as a potential trading partner or source of wealth. Silk from China was highly valued.

Any songs about jewellery or precious stones?

For my ICT coursework I have to make a website - mine is about jewellery. I also have to make a video to put onto the website - any good songs that I could use? It has to be about jewellery.
Even if you know of any videos showing jewellery that don't have a song, the video could be useful.
Many thanks 🙂

Chris asks…

What is a good homemade solution that is safe for cleaning gold and semi precious stones.?

Yes I know I can buy it.

admin answers:

We always used tooth paste and a soft bristle tooth brush. Also heard of using shaving cream & a brush. Most sites just say mild dish soap and cool water. Just don't use anything other than mild soap & water on pearls.
