Go to a rock and gemstore or a metaphysical store. You'll find them there at one of those shops. Or you can buy them online

Maria asks…

process of agate formation?

its for a science review sheet and i dont know the answer

admin answers:

Agate forms by the slow precipitation of chalcedonic silica from water within a void within a lava. In most cases the void is a vesicle, originally filled with gas or vapour. In some cases it can be a cooling crack in the lava. As the lava cools, and some alteration of unstable mineral species takes place the residual hot water with dissolved silica passes through the rock and enters the voids. Some of the silica comes out of solution on the walls of the void as a colloidal precipitate. As more water passes through the rock it continues to percolate into the void, depositing more silica with slightly different chemical compositions, thereby resulting in the precipitation of silica with different colours. This variation in composition, and precipitation over time from numerous fluid pulses results in the classic agate banding.

The original purchase was $104.50 ( 50 X $2.09 )
